Bowling Lanes

Bowling is of the easiest raindy day activities for families. Bumpers and lightweight bowling balls make it perfect to get kids of all ages involved. For an hour or two of entertainment, its easy, convienent and enjoyable for the whole family.

However, not all bowling alleys around Boise and Meridian have the same vibe. Some are better for families with younger kids, while others lean more to the mature, leauge style bowling vibe.

This spot has more of a classic neighborhood bowling alley feel. It’s smaller, a little quieter, and tends to be very family-friendly. Bringing younger kids here is great, because the atmosphere is relaxed, bumpers are easy to use, and it’s often one of the more affordable options for a casual game or two.

Emerald Lanes is one of the larger bowling centers in the Valley. It has more lanes and space, it’s a good option if you’re going with a bigger group or visiting on a weekend. It can get busier with leagues and events, but the larger facility means it’s easier to find open lanes.

Big Al’s is more of a full entertainment center. In addition to bowling, there’s arcade games, food, and a bigger venue feel. It’s fun for older kids and family outings, though it’s typically the most expensive option of the three. Think of it more as a rainy-day activity destination rather than a quick casual game.

Insider insight:

If you’re planning to bowl with younger kids, weekday afternoons are usually the easiest time to go. Many places are quieter before evening leagues start, and it’s easier to get bumpers and lighter bowling balls set up.

Rainy days, tend to remind us that some of the best moments aren't the big planned outings, but the simple ones. Wandering through cozy bookstores, watching fish glide through the water, or spending an afternoon bowling is the best opportunity to create amazing memories with the family.
