A Perfect Fall Day | 3 Easy Itineraries to Try

A Relaxed Fall Day in Downtown Boise

Best for: Friends, couples, solo outings and anyone who enjoys exploring local businesses.

Start with coffee at Flying M Coffeehouse

500 W. Idaho Street, Boise

Begin your morning at Flying M Coffeehouse, a longtime downtown Boise favorite known for its coffee, baked goods and eclectic gift shop.

Grab a latte, enjoy something from the pastry case and browse the unique gifts before heading out to explore more of downtown.

Spend some time at Rediscovered Books

1576 W. Grove Street, Boise

Next, make your way to Rediscovered Books in Boise's Linen District.

This independent bookstore is a wonderful place to discover a new read, explore staff recommendations or pick up a thoughtful gift. It's an easy addition to a relaxed downtown afternoon, especially when the weather encourages spending a little more time indoors.

Finish with an afternoon at the Boise Art Museum

670 Julia Davis Drive, Boise

For your final stop, head to the Boise Art Museum in Julia Davis Park.

With rotating exhibitions and a collection of artwork from Idaho and beyond, the museum offers a quieter way to spend the afternoon.

You can explore at your own pace and enjoy a little art and culture before heading home.

A little planning tip: This itinerary is best for a late morning or early afternoon. You'll be moving between different areas of downtown Boise, so allow a little extra time for parking and getting from one stop to the next. The museum is closed on Mondays.

A Meridian Date Day With Something for Everyone

Best for: Couples, friends and adults looking for a casual day or evening out.

Start with a meal at Eight Thirty Common

830 N. Main Street, Meridian

Kick things off with lunch or an early dinner at Eight Thirty Common in downtown Meridian.

Known for its casual gastropub atmosphere, it's a comfortable place to enjoy a meal before spending a little more time exploring the area.

It's also a great option for a laid-back date that doesn't require anything overly formal.

Make your next stop The Book Lounge

33 E. Idaho Avenue, Suite 120, Meridian

Just a short trip away, The Book Lounge offers something a little different.

This adults-only bookstore and lounge combines a curated selection of fiction with comfortable seating and drinks, creating a cozy place to slow down and spend time together.

Browse for your next favorite book, settle into a comfortable spot or enjoy a drink while catching up.

Important: The Book Lounge is strictly 21 and older, and a valid ID is required.

End the day at The Village at Meridian

3597 E. Monarch Sky Lane, Meridian

For the evening, head to The Village at Meridian.

Spend some time browsing shops, enjoy the atmosphere around the central fountain or catch a movie.

With restaurants, shopping and entertainment all in one location, it's easy to customize the rest of your evening without having to plan every detail.

A little planning tip: This itinerary works especially well on a Friday or Saturday. If you plan to see a movie, check showtimes before deciding when to start your evening

A Family Fall Afternoon in Kuna

Best for: Families, kids of different ages and anyone who wants to enjoy the last few weeks of the fall season.

Make Lowe Family Farmstead your main destination

2500 S. Eagle Road, Kuna

For a fall outing that feels like a complete experience, head to Lowe Family Farmstead in Kuna.

The farm offers a variety of seasonal attractions, including a corn maze, hayrides, farm animals, jumping pillows, games and a pumpkin patch.

With activities for different ages, it's an easy place to spend several hours without needing to drive between multiple destinations.

Take your time exploring the farm

Rather than trying to fit everything into a short visit, plan to enjoy a few activities at your own pace.

Start with the corn maze or a hayride, let the kids explore the farm attractions and take a break for something to eat.

Before heading home, stop by the pumpkin patch to find a pumpkin for the porch or enjoy a few fall photos.

Good to know for October 2026:

  • The fall season runs through October 31.

  • Monday through Thursday hours are 4 PM to 9 PM.

  • Friday and Saturday hours are 10 AM to 9 PM.

  • The farm is closed on Sundays.

  • Children ages three and under receive free admission.

  • Admission prices vary by day, and some attractions may be affected by weather.

A little planning tip: Friday or Saturday is best if you want to make an afternoon of it. On weekdays, plan for an evening visit instead.

Choose the Fall Day That Fits You

One of the best things about living in the Treasure Valley is having so many different experiences close to home.

You can spend an afternoon exploring downtown Boise, enjoy a date night around Meridian or make fall memories with the family in Kuna, all without planning an overnight trip.

And the best part? These itineraries are just starting points. Add your favorite lunch spot, stay a little longer somewhere you love or skip a stop if you'd rather keep things simple.

As October comes to a close, there's still time to enjoy everything that makes fall in Southwest Idaho special.
